Our Mission and Vision

Phoenix Family Church Leaders

The mission of Phoenix Family Church is to give people the uncompromised Word of God under the unction of the Holy Spirit which will produce effective change in the lives of the hearers. Pastor Rick feels a deep responsibility to not only teach the Bible, or to teach about God, but to minister God Himself by the Holy Spirit in him. He does not preach with excellency of speech but with power, a power that only comes from God Himself, that will transform all those who are hungry for God.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

1 Peter 4:11 “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

1 Thessalonians 2:13 “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”

John 21:15-17 “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”

Vision

Our vision as a Spirit-filled church in Phoenix is to see people go through these four phases as a result of hearing and believing the Word that is preached.

Salvation

Salvation and being born again is a term Christians use to explain what happens when our old spirit is replaced by a spirit that is perfect and holy before God. It happens as someone hears the Word of God or the Gospel and then believes it and confesses with their mouth that they do in fact believe that Jesus came from heaven and died for their sins and He now is their Savior. When they do this, the Holy Spirit gives them a brand new spirit and then abides in their born again spirit forever. God, who is holy, made a way for every person on the planet to not only fellowship with Him but also be one with Him. He loved us that much!

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.

Growth

Growth happens as new Christians hear the Word of God or the Bible. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.” Most people don’t even realize the importance of going to church and hearing the Word of God. Church is not like going to a lecture at a university, it actually feeds the deepest part of our being, our spirits. It is also an impartation of God, not just knowledge of the Word of God. It is spiritual and supernatural. The natural mind cannot understand the things of God so it sounds like foolishness to unbelievers and carnal Christians. Christians need to learn not to lean to their own understanding, but trust the Lord with all their hearts/spirits.

1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

Transformation

Transformation happens in our soul when we hear the Word of God or the Bible. The soul is made up of our mind, will, and emotions. Man is made in the image and likeness of God. Genesis 1:26. God is three in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Likewise, we are made up of spirit, soul, and body. That is why when we are born again our spirit wants to do the right thing and our soul and body wants to do the wrong thing at times. In the following scripture, you will see that Paul, who wrote more than half of the New Testament, struggled with this as well. Romans 7:14-25. In verse 25, Paul explains how he overcame. When we transform our soul with the Word of God and crucify the flesh by fasting then we have an easier time doing the right thing with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Purpose

Purpose is established in our born again spirits when we continue in the Word of God and listen to those that are more experienced in the Bible. God gave gifts to those that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. The gifts are a variety of offices in the Body of Christ to feed the church the Word of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to mature the saints and prepare every believer for their ministry to their community, and then the world. It is very important that people serve before they lead. 1 Timothy 3:6. Luke 16:12. Purpose is discovered as you grow in God through hearing the Word of God from one or many apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.

Ephesians 4:11-12 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
